A Glittering Galaxy effect which i used in my latest game Star Trek: Starship Legends.
The Effect:

Level Editor:
1)Draw a few group of Stars then Tile them to use as background , you can use this..
2)Pick one of the stars from the group of stars you're going to use as the background and rename it to Star ( coz thats the name i'am gonna use for the rest of the tut ). Set a Ball Movement with maximum initial speed ( you can adjust the speed as you like it ). You can use the following star..
Events Editor:
1)Always:
A)Set X Position of Star to Random ( 635 )
B)Set Y Position of Star to Random ( 399 )
Considering my playfield was 635 X 399
C)Set Direction Of Star to Dir(star)+16
and you are done!
For Larger Playfields:
If you're gonna have larger playfield to try this effect then just increase the number of Stars moving, if you find that the glittering is not enough. You can use the following lines for doing that:
1)Every 1 Second + Number of stars < 5 ( for example ) :
A)Create Star at 0,0
