Everyone must start somewhere - By Jason Orme

In a large community of game makers, each with a different range of talent. It can be disheartening to upload your creation, for it to only be torn to pieces by fellow game makers.

Dispite the fact that in every new creators game, we see abit of ourselves, a reminder of what it was like when we started out, and the joy and satisfaction we got from doing it.

To insult this persons work without being constructive or without a thought of the persons feelings at hand is somthing we ourselves have most likely dealt with in the past, when we started out.

We shouldnt tear into a person for using defualt platform/movement engines, ripped graphics, library graphics or gradients, as these are the tools we are given and are there to be used dispite our personal preferance of them.

When I first had The Games Factory, I had no internet connection I didn't really have any friends to share my games with, I did them because I had the software to make games, and had always dreamed of doing it. I did it for me.

Of course the joy of a well received game is a great one.
To know many enjoyed the time in which you had put into it, and that it isn't just fun for you, but for others too.

But even if a game isn't a favourite among members, you did this for you, and if your happy then it shouldnt really matter what others think. If your goal is to have somthing enjoyed by many, don't threat and try again.

Constructive criticism will be given, wanted or not.
Remember, this is just other members way of giving you tips on how to improve the game (if you choose to or not).
Most people do this, its a form of feedback to help future productions of yours that little bit better. Although an explanation of why you did somthings a certain way or chose to do somthing like this are also handy, as they show that thought went into it, that is if the answer isn't somthing along the lines of "I got lazy" or "It was faster".

Many of us need to take the time to think back to our early days and for when we see others creations to not be so critical. If we didn't enjoy it be constructive and let them know why, but keep their feeling in consideration as even the greatest games starting somwhere and this person could just be that game maker who makes the next big thing.
