Good day, it`s Heriberto speaking:

Now i`m gonna give you some tips about planning on storyboards, for your cutscenes.
A storyboard is basically a sheet that explains several "keys" for you to use as reference.
How does this helps me? well, it`s the best of references because you can take them as a basis and do not leave everything inside your imaginations or as text in paper.

But let`s see an example of a storyboard i use, the format goes like this:

on:

-> White letter sized paper:

______________________________________________

Sketch square is of course, a sketch of the scene, detailed enough to see what is going on. The square * is the scene number. Time represents how much does this action or scene takes to be done. and description is EXAACTLY what happens here, and any possible notes you may want to make about it.

When storyboarding you must try to get it to a minimum possible action keyframes.

Example: Leon takes a money from his pocket and puts it on the piggy bank.

What is important here are two actions, He takes the coin, he deposits it. We really don`t care to depict all the movement from the Coin to the piggy. we just need two key actions.

Also, in descriptions try to go on detail with everything.

This is mostly for animation of course, and cutscenes, but as you can see it`t useful for klikking. you may want to try to organize your work this way, you`ll see it pays off.

For some information about storyboarding please visit www.polykarbon.com and click on tutorials, Patrick has a great site with lot`s of tips tutorials and the sort, you will find also drawing tutorials, and photoshop / photopaint tutorials for special Fx, even Japanese tutorials so please visit.

Have a nice day.
