I made a 3 or 4 frame gif animation in an animation program and succesfuly imported the gif file into an active object but for some reason the colors were reversed the black stick figure I had drawn turned white and the white space around it which should be invisible turned black how can I fix this

That sounds very strange. I suggest you don't import the GIF directly, but save it as a series of numbered BMP files. That shouldn't cause any problems.

MMF's filters are crap, export or import everything as series of BMPs, or something will inevitably go wrong.
