You know those annoying Windows XP text bubbles that pop up from the system tray once in a while ? does anyone happen to know how to make these ? i'm pretty sure 3rd party people can make them because i have an antivirus program that displays these sometimes...

They're just normal windows positioned in the corner (assuming these bubbles are like the ones MSN messenger pops up).

Are you talking about the ones that say, you have updates to install or similar. That are yellow speech bubbles, if so I'm pretty sure the Window Shape object could do that.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the one's that pop up for example when you unplug your printer & it says it was just unplugged, or if you put something new like a controller into your computer & it pops up saying new hardware found.

If they're so annoying, why do you want to make them?

Also the ones that automatically pop up could easily just be custom windows with transparency and a picture of a bubble drawn over the top. That's how it'd have the X button too (which i'm pretty sure the tooltip ones don't have)

I suppose he wants to take revenge on those people by making these kind of bubbles as well.

first of all: lol!
2nd of all: I might have over done the annoyance bit there. And yes, I am talking about the ones with printer notifications and such.
I don't think they're a transparent picture though. They seem to vary in size, and this tells me they vary. I dunno for sure though.

Link: That's sorta what I'm looking for. The only prob is that i want these bubbles for a VB project, so C++ isn't very fitting. Unless I make a seperate .exe that can take cmdline arguments. But that'd just be...not good..

They use transparent pictures, just not static ones.

well if you had an image of the 4 corners and the sides you could draw the bubble any size you wanted

If you want to make them in MMF, then you might need to have someone or you make an extention to do so, because its not possable to get things like that outside of the game window unless you attempt it with the Sub-application(if your going to try something like sprites), but you know, I may be wrong.

"i think they vary in size which tells me they vary" <- what the hell was i on about ?

anyways, i think i shall just have to make my own notifier. It'll probably be a kitty or a wizard...and if possible, i'll make it as annoying as the Office helpers

oh come on, like 97.23% of the people here are better than ms, are you part of that 1.77% that isn't?

As a boy, I wanted to be a train. I didn’t realize this was unusual—that other kids played with trains, not as them.
