PHP nuke a good product for creating a site a bit like TDC?

It's nice and easy (From what I've heard) but a lot of people are "anti-nuke", and prefer sites to be made by hand from scratch. To me it doesn't matter either way as long as the content's just as good.

Is it disguisable? Like, how do people know it was nuked?

Also, how hard is it to implement it in your design?

I don't know much about nuking but you can tell a site is nuked because it has all those annoying sub sub categories just to read the news, and is way overkill for a site's purpose usually, with too many features.

Nuke isn't to be integrated, it IS a design, I'm sure with some heavy modding you can integrate into your design.

Yeah, I think the only things you do change are the colours and images (and maybe add your own 'modules', but I dunno). A dead givaway of a 'Nuke site is that the pages always start with "index.php?module=..." (or something similar)

yeah, if a site has been phpnuked, it's usually very obvious. most people use pre-manufactured skins too which doesn't help (in fact i think it's the prominent reason for being anti-nuke).

So what are some good alternative options?

PHP really isn't hard to learn if you've got a fair amount of time. If you're not up to that, you could look for someone who knows it to do it for you, if you make the layout for them.

I'm checking out Xaraya at the moment, looks promising. Can someone provide me with figures for the TDC? Monthly transfer, and how much disk space is used?

I am quite a fan of Mambo open source. Not too hard to customise and quite a few modules and components out there

A quote from the mighty Clubsoft

"We dont have all that much space on the server.. and definately not the bandwidth to host (We're already using a few hundred gigs a month)"

And keep in mind that we don't host downloads or pictures ('cept for the frontpage ones)...
