I was woken up at 6am Sunday morning to hear one huge mother fucker of an explosion, I looked outside my window and I saw the fireball just ascend to the sky. So big that it only looked like it was down my road. The sky was lit up, it's crazy! It's about 2 or 3 miles away from me aswell.
(I actually copied and pasted this on the day it happened on another forum, so yeah expect some strange factual errors in it)
Nobody knows how has happened, but I'm telling ya it's pretty freaky. The whole of Hemel could have just gone bye bye if the flames had got anywhere near those petrol tanks. This is the biggest oil depot in Great Britain and having it explode just a mile away from me is so crazy I can't believe it. It's been on the news all day and no doubt all over the papers tomorrow. The thick smoke can be seen all over Southern England and it contains very serious toxic chemicals which are irritants and if over you can do you alot of damage.
This is no ordinary explosion, this is top serious and I'm not sure why we haven't been evacuated yet, since an area on the other side of the explosion were all taken to safety. Thousands of people flocked to see the flames, from news crew to trigger happy suicidal Chinese tourists. The whole town... county even has stopped by to see what has happened, it's a warzone out there, 100 policeman and 100 fireman are/were on patrol today, the entire M1 was shutdown and the amount of taped off areas was astounding.
Right now it's still on fire and there's expected to be another explosion during the middle of the night, and I don't want to exagerate or anything but this could be the explosion which will probably take mine and many others in Hertfordshire if the fire isn't taken under control enough.
Well, I've had a pretty fucking insane day today, so when I wake up and see what aload of dribble I posted which sounded like my last ever forum post at AGDI due to death I'll know how over exagerated I was the night before.
So yeah, if I go I go, I'm not scared and neither worried because my view on life cannot contribute to this statement, I'm a happy go person and even now I think alot of the crap I'm saying is bullshit, but still the words "if" spring to mind alot. Therefore, wish the whole town luck and hopefully this should all be over by the end of the week.
And last but not least, the hotel where the Click Convention is held was taken by the explosion aswell, this presumingly means no more Click Conventions. Sorry guys.
Im amazed i heard no one was killed? What was it like a night? bet it looked alot more dramatic?

I thought there were a couple of DC members in Hemel. It must have been insane. I'm pretty convinced the noise of the explosion woke me up in Guildford, although I could be lying to get attention.
Is that actually true that you heard it? First time I read that it was heard in Holland I was very dismissing of the statement. I mean if you did hear it, imagine the impact I got when I was only a mile away from it.
Uh, I'm from New Holland, not Regular Holland. I don't know if they could hear it.

It wasn't just the massive scale and size of the blast, though that helped. The atmospheric conditions at the time were perfect for transmitting sound.
