I know how to manipultate and abuse the ini object but i cant for the life of me remember how to start one.
can i set one up in the game directory?
or do the groups and data have to be entered at runtime?

You can pre-format an ini, no problem. Referencing a nonexistant ini will create one, but if it's already there the program can't tell if the data was entered manually or not.

Just open notepad, enter some data...
[group]
item=value
[group]
item=string
...like that, and then you save it as *.ini

Just be careful not to try and load an ini if one doesn't exist! I did this once and MMF crashed big time, it sucked haha!
