You know, the one that is located in the start menu. It doesn't work anymore. Could someone please be so kind as to please:
1. List me the files you have in the C:\WINDOWS\srchasst dir?
2. Tell me the values of the keys at HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Search Assistant in the registry?
Maybe the problem can be solved easily...
Thank you

Well, it wasn't just a thing of adding all those keys manually, which doesn't suprise me... Well, it wasn't a tool I used much anways. Thanks for your time.

It just shows the window and the little dog. No buttons or text whatsoever, not even in the window title itself.

That's really odd, I can't even imagine what is causing that. If it became a problem I would just reinstall windows non-destructively

Last time I accidentally busted explorer, and the search suffered along with alot of other things. If this is the case, then either system restore, or reinstall windows like Matt said.
