Why the hell does everyone have to make a point about other people's grammatical errors?
Well done you've noticed something!...
we are all humans and humans make mistakes.

Consider this, sometimes it is quite rude to correct someone who has made a genuine mistake.

Why is it that on the internet, it is alright to be rude to someone, but not alright to make a mistake. It's not right.

rant over.

This is about that other thread, isn't it? =/ I felt like being a bit of a git about something, because my visa application is taking too long.

However, something that annoys me about the Internet is the acceptability of really quite terrible writing skills. I won't take the odd mistake up with people, but some posts are virtually unreadable. I admit that every time I see the all-too-common "alot" (or its children "abit" and, unbelievably, "alittle"), it makes me twitch a little.

And the argument that "it's only the Internet" doesn't hold with me - On the Internet, you're composed entirely of language, and it's your choice whether you're malformed or not.

Rant #2 over!

this isn't about any other topic, it's just because people use the grammar option to try to win arguments when it's completely unrelated to the argument in the first place.

Also i don't usually rant anyway so i'm not very good at it.

I'm just trying to make some good topics.

That does annoy me, actually, when people pick the grammar of posts apart to win an argument. I can't say I haven't done it myself a couple of times, though.

I can't stand when people use the wrong "their, they're, there" and "its & it's"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Correct:

It's my favorite!!!!

Its favorite color is blue!!!!

"It's" means IT IS, it does not mean something is in possession of the IT!!!!!!!!

Also I hate it when people use more than 1 exclamation point.

Actually a lot of the annoyance comes from the way in which people inform others of their mistakes. People are just really rude!

Without reading the other posts, I think it's very annoying that people choose to bitch about other peoples spelling, as a last resort (or in some cases, a first resort) to stand up for themselfs in an arguement. Hell, half the time you don't even have to be in an arguement. It just goes to show how stupid some people can get, by showing the only way they can look down on someone for personal gain, is to complain about their spelling. Very annoying to say the least.

It annoys me when people correct tiny mistakes like, say, accidentally leaving out a letter.

I don't mind people correcting things like "my account got deliteds". How the hell do you misspell "deleted"? We hear Strong Bad say it about every 8 emails or so. Porbably more. Unless, he meant "My account got Deli Teds" like, some sorta exotic disease. Deli Teds...

Anyway, I think people have all the right to bash others who use stupid misspellings on purpose, like

OMG UR AM DUMM!!!1 EYE TINK U R VERY SMELL-E!!! LOL!

About "It's only the internet" it's easier for me to type than speak, I mean, you can't look over your speech and correct it.

I can see becoming annoyed quickly at someone who abuses or just can't spell for the life of them, but even then you need to take some considerations. For one, the person might not speak English very well, or perhaps at all. Of course the smarter posters who face this situation, will almost always mention that their English isn't the greatest.

Another minor consideration is age, and while, yes there are exceptional forum posters under 20, it's a rare thing. Then again, I've seen plenty of people older...who type and spell horribly, so I guess this consideration is a loose one at best.

Finally, as a few people pointed out, this isn't real life, it's the internet. Ambiguity and freedom run pretty high here, so freedom to spell and type like a five year old on LSD is alright, and in some places, perfectly acceptable.

Of course all these rules and considerations will usually fly out the window, the moment one user starts nitpicking anothers spelling- In a small case. Simple mistakes, or the occasional screw up...well, I mean come on...we're human aren't we?

We're allowed to screw up every now and again

I don't like it when people abbreviate words that are already small.

"r U coming over the house 2 get some??"

Even if it's a hot chick, it's still annoying.
The above example is not based on any actual event lol.

I have not very much against if somebody just points out a spellingmisstake, the thing that annoys me is when people with good english looks down on people with a little bit worser english just because they not are their equal in a language that one is born with while the other mostly uses it in school.

(Sorry for all grammatical errors )

I'm annoyed regulary by the wrong use of everything JustinC said, except for the exclamation point thingy.

Trying to win a flame war over spelling is kinda weird, except if one of the flamers has REALLY bad spelling.

Oh, and I almost always check my posts for spelling mistakes before clicking on that relpy buttno. Uh, reply button.
