Having both the trial of MMF2 and Vista's latest beta installed, I decided to take the time and check out how MMF2 deals with Vista. Especially seeing as how MMF 1.5 hated Windows Xp at first. Here were my results:

Image
First of all, I was very happy to see that MMF2 even opened. Especially taking into consideration that MMF 1.5 crashes before it even starts. Shockingly, even after MMF2 is open in Vista, it's still very stable. The only problem is, the nice Aero theme, is toggled on and off as you access various parts of MMF2 for some reason. However, Vista also does this on some webpage’s, so it could just be Windows Vista reacting to something that has already been fixing in a later (unreleased) beta, or even release.

I was happy to see that the game actually ran, and just as planned when I hit the run button. I was expecting something to go wrong, like an error message, or some sort of comparability crash. However, ArcaneTale (as seen in the screenshot) opened up fine, and actually ran beautifully on Vista. Perhaps even better then Windows XP? I didn't notice any glitches so far.

(The above link is full sized, otherwise I would have embedded it.)
This screenshot shows one of the places that MMF2 toggles the Aero theme off. Aside from that, and the rather annoying "rim" around the tip pop ups, I don’t see anything else wrong. The event editor (and other editors) all function great.

PS: I recall reading in a post a couple days ago, asking how well MMF2 would run on Vista, sarcastically. Well here is your answer. Runs Great! Nothing wrong except for some small things here and there. Nothing that a small 1 time patch wont fix up.

1 Problem is selecting the layers doesn't work right. Like if you have one layers selected , then select another one, they are both highlighted, but it doesnt actually select that layer, it stays on the one that you previously had selected. Try it out to see what I mean.

Use Wine, Cedega or Crossover Office to emulate it.

Or just use Windows, for which it is native anyway.

Damn, Brandon are you using the developer edition, or just one of the other ones? If you're using developer I guess that means somethings wrong with mine.

I don't use developer, in my eyes it's pointless because I don't plan to make profit yet, and that's the only reason Developer is high priced. It's an investment basicly...

The guys that form up Clickteam aren't idiots. Neither are Microsoft. And even though MMF 1.5 did crash every now and then, I wasn't programming while saying my prayers each time I hit "Run" and stuff like that. It's a bad thing to say you're expecting either XP/Vista or MMF to crash .

Anyhow, glad to know 40 GB worth of operating system don't crash up application-building programs. Would be an idiot thing to happen, don't ya think?

You obviously weren't here during the huge MMF 1.5 vs Windows XP problem. I seem to remember most of the community, having major issues with MMF locking up before it even started, on Windows XP. It still does on Windows Vista, so my goal here was to hopefully relax any concerns people might have, with MMF2 on Windows Vista.

MMF in general, has shown a hatred for new operating systems, and I was just confirming that MMF2 didn't have that problem, with Windows Vista.

Then you either not earily enough a buyer, to get an unpatched version, or you were one of the lucky ones. It was a problem however.
