Pokemon Online (POL) is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, or simply a MMORPG. POL is largely based around the original Pokemon Gameboy games; the only difference being that users play entirely online with other people from all over the world. In simple terms this means POL is like playing the Gameboy games but having hundreds of other players walking around in the game at the same time. This allows for online pokemon battling, capturing and trading with other users online. POL is still in the beta stages of development but can already be played online with other users in a 2D enviroment. In the current beta you cannot catch, train and battle pokemon yet, but it will be featured in the next beta scheduled for release next week. A screenshot of the current beta v4.2 can be found at http://pokemonol.net/images/screens/chatsystem.png
The official website for POL is http://www.pokemonol.net. Here you will be able to find all updates/news regarding POL's development. The direct download link of the current beta v4.2 is located at http://www.pokemonol.net/files/install.exe. So please download and try - you will be impressed. Currently you can only walk around and talk to other players but it is still interesting to play, to say the least. The battle engine is coming along nicely, with the pokemon statistics database just about completed. I have already tested it with the pokemon statistics database and it works perfectly without any errors. The graphical interface of the battle engine simply needs brushed up and the next beta will be ready for release.
The POL Map Editor is still in early development but it already includes collision detection and the ability to create warps. Warping is when a player leaves the map (or level) they were on and travels to a new map. For example, when a player in POL enters a house they travel to a new map. We are in need of map designers to create the POL world so please go to the main website and download the Map Editor to start creating your own custom map.
The staff openings in POL are:
-Graphic/Sprite Designers
-Map Designers
-MMF Programmers
-PHP Coders (to create the login/register system on the main POL website)
If you are interested please go to the main POL website at http://pokemonol.net and go to the forums or you can contact me directly through MSN or email. My email is haris@pokemonol.net and my MSN is hapaisley@aol.com.
It based around Konidias' project. Anyway the first 151 pokemon have been added into the battle engine database, complete with animations. Online battling should be coming very soon.
I am looking for someone who is experienced in PHP programming and MySQL databases so that I can implement a login/register system on to my website, with personal user accounts for POL. I want PHP and MySQL to be used to create this system. I am hoping that the login/register system can be created on my website for people to register to play the game.
So if anyone would like to offer their skills to create this system for POL please reply to this thread or contact me by email, MSN, AIM or PM. My email and MSN is hapaisley@aol.com and my AIM is Hapaisley. I may be able to offer some money to anyone who can help me.

I know some PHP, i think i could help out!
I just need to know how advanced it will be, like;
Shall the user be able to view his pokémon, items etcetera on the site? What will the system involve?
That would be great if you could make the login/register system Skydragon! I just want a simple login/register system with the ability for users to create personal user accounts. I want to allow people to enter personal information about themselves in the registeration form such as age, date of birth, nicknames, AIM, MSN, email, biography etc. A screenshot of the info I want stored about each user can be found at http://www.pokemonol.net/files/screens/idlrg.gif Contact me by MSN (hapaisley@aol.com) if you would like to help.
I really like what you have going on here. I hope it works out and is finished. I played around in it for a few minutes but obviously it doesn't have much to do. Good idea though.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
This is definetly a good idea, and I wish you guys luck, but isn't an unlicenced online pokemon game kind of risky, legally? I'd be expecting an immediate C&D as soon as it got popular.
