The synopsis was in the cave ages, it was a sequel as well I believe. The hero was this boy with purple hair, that if hit by an enemy he'd transform into a monkey. His weapon was a wooden bat...Also, you could select stages, I remember one of the being a pirate ship, another these graveyard area...does anyone know what game I'm talking about???
