For some reason I can't hear sound effects (all in the wav. format) when I test my MMF2 game.
I know it's not a problem with my PC since I tested it with MMF1 & it works.

Try downloading the newest MMF2 build; wave files work fine for me.

I have the latest build.
I tried it on another PC & apparently I was wrong it DOES have something to do with my PC. Although I find it strange that my PC plays wav.s in every other program I have that plays them & I also find it strange that I can't even play the wav. files in the sounds catagory of the data elements menu (meaning if I click play it doesn't do anything like you know if it was playing but I just can't hear it on my PC "play" should change to "stop").

I hate to double post but I just found out that wav.s DO work in MMF2 on my PC if I load them through the Direct Show extension. Basically this means that it's samples when loaded threw MMF2's default method that doesn't work. I'm not sure if this means the problem is my PC or some obsure bug in MMF2 related to my PC.

I heard problems might occur when playing wav and I think midi files on certain PCs in the newest MMF2 Build. I'm not certainly sure of this.

Do you know what set of sound drivers/sound hardware you're using?

I actually had this problem just the other day. I was searching the internet for dentist drill sounds (for Mr Stump's Dentures 2), found some, downloaded them, but they wouldn't play for some reason. I downloaded three overall, only one worked. I can't for the life of me think why.

Are you using internal samples or external samples? If you are using external samples then make sure that under application properties you go to audio filters and uncheck "Automatic".

@Plooscva: I tried uninstalling & reinstalling MMF2 so that it was back to the oldest build yet it still wouldn't play wav.

@DavidN: Well I'm not sure but I think it's SigmaTel Audio or something. I haven't upgraded it so it's the default dirvers/hardware.

@Mr.Circy: Well it's good to know that someone else is having this problem too...
And it's good to know that you're making a sequel to MSD!

@Joshtek: Nah I'm using internal.

If you are on Windows XP SP2 or Vista then disable Data Execution Prevention. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875352
