Is it possible to have a counter set to a global value if that value is a number?

Yeah, just use "Set counter to Global Value something". Just like everything else.

Except it is...
-Set counter -> [Click cute computer icon] Retrieve a global value -> Pick cute global value.

That's in MMF 1.2 but I'm quite sure they haven't removed such a crucial option in MMF 2. What app are you using anyway? Whatever it is the option is hiding there, in the cute computer...

You can just enter the counter's value as (instead of a number, type)

"Global Value A"

Or whatever global value it is

Are you doing this:
[Whatever event]
Right-click the counter, choose "Set counter", click "Retrieve data from an object", right-click the icon "Special" (which looks like a computer), click the option named "Retrieve a global value", highlight the global value which you want to retrieve and click "Ok". Now the expression editor should say "Global Value X" where X is the letter or number for your global value. Now click "Ok" and voilá! You retrieved the global value!

That's the long way, instead you should just do as Tim said, type "Global Value X" in the expression editor where X again is a variable.

Sorry for being over-obvious, but it really shouldn't pose a problem.

Yes, I've done all that. I'm using MMF2, and for some reason it's not working. Try it yourself if you don't believe me... Latest build also. All extension packs, a few extension's I've put in myself, etc.

Interesting signature you got there.

Have you checked the actual counter's limits? They might be wrong.

If you get a syntax error, then just use the 'retrieve data from object' button, and get the expression manually.

And concerning your signature: If you can't even get that right, then you are pretty noob. Sorry, heh

Sorry Ror(r)y! It does work in MMF2 (The demo anyways, but as I said earlier I'm quite sure they haven't removed such a crucial option in the fullversion), just tried it and it works just fine.

Make a screenshot of the error. I don't believe you, how can something simple as that not work? :s
