I'm wondering what is the most efficient way to achieve parallax backgrounds in MMF2. In terms of processor efficiency.

The ways i can think of right now.

Background system box
layer object
built in mmf2 layers
active objects

Built in MMF2 layers, probably, as it's a completely internal system the engine and game keep account with. It's also easier to work with, and you can use backdrops which are fastest of all other named objects.

I suppose speed-wise the built in MMF2 layers are the best, but I think for ease of use and convenience - I prefer the background system box.

Whats wrong with turning image looping on in an active picture object, and then just setting its offset? Works for me.

That would only work for small objects without causing a large amount of computer lag.

I forgot about Active picture objects actually
but i imagine they're slower than background system objects

Even Background system boxes though have some issues with size and speed when you're at higher resolutions. I'd say stick with quick backdrops and layers. By the way the Layer object works with MMF2's built in layers.
