I had this idea. Everyone knows of www.imdb.com (Internet Movie Database). So I thought, 'I wish there was an igdb.' Internet Game Database. But then I realised there are too many different types of games. Eg: card games, board games, sport games. The site would be all over the place.
So then I narrowed it down and realised it should be called Internet Videogame Database. That pretty much sums it up.
So I went to see if www.ivgdb.com was taken and it was! By a site call Internet Videogame Database!
But there was nothing there except a picture so I think it's still in development. Too bad I didn't have the idea first, couldn't made millions.
But yeah I think this is going to be as big as imdb. It'll be so handy to see what all the guys that made Sonic 2 on Mastersystem and doing these days.
But I imagine it wont be up for a while, maybe even a few years.
It would be cool if it had just the people that worked on kinda wellknown games. If you include every retard that made something in a click product it would become messy.
It'd have to be like imdb in that, obviously not every movie ever made gets on there. Like when jimmy filmed his dog peeing and put it on youtube. That's kind of the equivalent to someone making a stupid little 1 level game in MMF2. But I'm talking about the professional marketed games. Games that are sold in shops/on consols etc.
I dunno about that, you'd have a bunch of bejeweled games and not much else. What about Lyle, ED, or Cave Story? Those were never sold in any shops (as far as I know) but should definitely be included in a database like this, don't you think?
