Im trying to put a avi video as a background on my game but when i play the game everything goes behind the video. I tried using layers but was not successful. please help..
videos in windows use an overlay function to draw the video... so im pretty sure mr. lazy is right, I dont think you can put a video behind other objects.
Ive had to do similar things in some projects I have worked on... the GIF seems to work ok as long as its a reasonable size and not like half the screen or something.
As far as I know, it's a limitation of the way Windows works as to why a video overlay cannot be z-ordered to the back.
My video is just less than 3MB, I've never tried it with large file sizes
If you try out the MMF2 Hardware Acceleration/HWA beta, you may be able to load it but I'm not sure, it could go either way. Is it the frame which is just locking up or do your active objects move/etc but theres just no video?

I'm just gonna convert it to gif or something. Thanks for trying to help me
Sounds like a codec problem... try downloading "k-lite codec pack" and install it... it may fix your problem.
*EDIT*
Failing that, you could try re-ecoding the video to a different codec or format all together using the free program Virtual Dub. It could simply be a compression issue that MMF2 isn't understanding correctly.
