I was researching the GP2X, and they've released a new version, it seems. Not sure if the console is worth buying, as Ive only had experience with the GP32, and I hardly understood it then >.<
Anyway, check out the CD games, Cave Story is featured

Also have it on PSP - it's a perfect game to have on a handheld I think.
Just wish there was some kind of handheld that could run klik games - that'd be awesome!

You can sort of mimic that with VNC on the PSP but it's not the best solution.

I played the cave story port a few months ago for the GP2X,
It fits on the screen perfectly since both are 320x240
but the sound is really quiet through the speakers.

First you would probably need to get a a handheld fast enough to run windows 95 or 98 at fullspeed.

The best option would probably be to get a handheld that runs Java - at least then you might have a chance of running MMF2 java applications. That would be pretty awesome itself in my opinion.

What would you need for that to work though?
java is multiplatform right? so you would need someone to port the java runtime over to the handheld?
or create an emulator of sorts?

Yeh I'm not sure.. I heard somebody was coding java for PSP, but that was about 3 years ago and I don't think it got anywhere..
I'm not sure to be honest

*cough* Open Pandora *cough*
The sucessor to the GP2X. Likely has enough power to emulate the DS/N64. I want one.

I had a GP2X, I bought it for souly one purpose - To play Duke Nukem 3D on the go! And I'd just like to say that it ran perfectly.
So yeah, it can handle 2D and well as 3D

It can run quake 1 too, albeit at about 15 frames per second. Software mode only of course.
To be honest the psp gets slightly better homebrew support than the gp2x due to it's popularity. I don't think mine was worth the asking price when i bought it...
