Hello everybody.
I know im probobly not the best person to start a thread like this, but I think it might help this community. I've been reading the topic about how TDC is dieing, and I want to help and and try to get some more downloads on the download page. Who is with me? Even though ive only been a member for a short amount of time, Ive been a guest for even longer. TDC has always been something i would check everyday, hoping that i would get to play a new game, made by someone like me, someone who actually enjoys klicking. If TDC ever really left, A part of me would go to. So heres my suggestion.

A Compitition.

The point of this competition is to make a game in 1 hour. It can be any kind of game, and have as many events, objects, etc. as you want. Unless TDC users decide differently. In this post tell me YOUR ideas, and what you think would make a good compitition.

There will be no prize. "Whats the point then?" - some may say. Well, the point of this is to have fun. Remember those days were you got all exited, just because you made a guy walk with the DEAFULT PLATFORM ENGINE. I do. Why don't you try something different in this. Instead of making a fancy game with all those particle effects, and 100MB downloads. Make something fun, make something you will actually enjoy doing.
Klicking should be a hobby of joy. Not a job.
P.s. Don't flame me just because I made this thread. please, I'm just trying to help.

Sure, I might give it a shot, it's only one hour after all. Do we all start at the same time, or can we make our games any time we like? If we all start at the same time, could you please give us an exact time instead (For example: Today at 20:00 GMT), so we won't have to sit here and reload this thread every second.
A nice idea with these short contests is to have a theme; like an idea all the games get based around, that you don't announce until the contest starts. Oh and maybe 3 hours instead of 1
I like your motivation, but there's a problem with one-hour competitions in that the game quality probably won't be very good. Yes, TDC will have more games as a result, but would people want to download them?
You could post this over at CT forums, too. There's a lot of active members there who love a 1 hour comp. Make it any longer and I think people may say no, don't forget the 20 event competition deadline is soon.
@admins: Some people so not check the download page, mabey you could put this on the front page? becuase i know for a long time i would only check the frint and download page. never the forums until i made an account. but its just an idea.

Please think hard about the theme so that we don't end up with loads of similar games. something that wont make games use the same ideas (xmas theme) and something that wont limit the genre (pong clones).
Something like the 4 bit competition was cool (ie 4 shades of the same colour) so people actually had a bit of fun with the limitations.
and the 20 event competition is good because only peoples ability limits them to how much they can squeeze into 20 events.
Wait till the 20 event compo is over. I don't really like 1 hour compos, they're usually over by the time I read them. Even the 3-day ones
I like the game battle idea too. Neuro, I challenge you to a duel! (..but since I'm booked up to July, it'll have to start on August or later)

I don't know if it is going to go a 1 hour competition, that was just an idea. Mabey I will do something like up to 1 week, but only be able to use certain colors (red, blue, yellow, black, white, green, purple (the colors on the side of mmf pallete))

No colors. I would so mess that one up Try something more unique, like.. making a game based on pacman, but a platformer.

A game made using 2 people over the course of 48 hours.
Of course, this would require a few people to sign up (8 minimum i'd say), and then the judge/judges would select pairing. Then off they'd go, to decide who'd do what in the game.
It'd be an organisational challenge, but given enough time, people should be able to work something out and make a pretty decent game.
If you wanted, you could even have a group of more people doing it.
