Theres a new more stable all around better extension coming out, made under Clickteam themselves. I suppose that means don't get your hopes up for any time soon, but it's pretty nice so far, I have the beta.
I wouldn't say it's easier, because to be honest, it doesn't get much easier then signing onto a server and just sending and receiving messages. In fact, in terms of ease in that respect, it might be a little more involved, but it looks a lot more flexible and just all around more capable. It seems to have a combination of all MooGame, MooClick, and MooSock, simply because it's not marked as an extension for a specific task, but an all around tool. And you can guarantee that because it's still in support by the company who made it, it'll be supported.

It's more or less based on the server and the efficiency of how well you program. I've designed stuff with less then a millisecond ping with almost anyone who joined me. This isn't typical, and it was only with 1 other person, but it's possible.
Thing is though, with moo you can only recieve 1 packet of data per mmf loop as far as I'm aware. So at 50fps that's 50 packets per second, so it does seem to get quite limited.
