Those are shiny. Exactly the type of ship graphics I pictured for a concept game I had... "The Great Fangpaste Trek"

No, most unfortunately. I can't get anything done until I have new graphics.
I must say again that those are awesome sprites. Did you draw those by hand? Edited by the Author.

Thanks, I spent quite a while on them. It's actually a gameplay requirement that they all be basically circular, in case anyone's wondering.
OldManClayton; they're all created from scratch, using PaintShop Pro 8.

I wish I could do that. Do you draw them by pixel and then do some fancy shading and blending and such/whatnot?

If I wasn't using a solid background I wouldn't be doing it this way because of the antialiased edges to the sprites. However, when you are using a solid background I find it usually looks better to rotate sprites in PSP rather than MMF - whilst 360 angles would be nice, MMFs sprite rotation sucks (no antialiasing). Plus this way, you can give your sprites a fixed light source.
Anyway, I start with a reasonably detailed sprite like this;
I've actually cut and pasted parts from ships I made a while back for this sprite.
I then rotate and resize - I know it's not real pixel art anymore but if it looks ok who cares?
I then use PSPs lighting effects (it's not proper 3d shading but I'm lazy), and finally I'll use curves to adjust the colours how I like them.

Hmm, yes I like to resize and rotate to make sprites look shiny too. I need to try PSP...

I's likes how you kept the light source consistent unlike everything else ever that uses rotated sprites. Good work

Check a few posts up and you'll see the pixelled ship without the fancy fixed lightsource. Sketchy describes the technique there.
