I decided today to change my name to Jon Lambert (taking out the "& George" because he doesn't use this account) so I went to my profile. However, once I pressed Save Changes, it said the name was already in use, so I went and searched "Lambert" and indeed there was another user. I looked at the profile, and...
Wait for it...
THEY HAVE MY OLD AOL ACCOUNT EMAIL!!!
How did this happen? Did I do that? There was a very long time when my password was a complicated string of letters and numbers, maybe I made another one to use... But I don't remember doing that and I don't remember any password for it. My identity hasn't been stolen, has it?
The account has never been active as far as I can see. I'm confused. I can't change my name until something is done about this. But what can be done? They've never done anything, and it's my email address, so I can't ask them directly, because they are me?
Hmm.. that is weird. Looks like that account was registered a year after your current one. I could delete it or just change the name, if you like. Just send me an email from JohnLamb@aol.com so I could be sure that it's really you.
