Yep, finally I enter the wonderous world of MMF2. Just put the order in this morning in fact. I didn't try the demo at all like I did for MMF1.5, I did things backwards this time around haha.
Anyhow, can anybody basically give me the pros and cons of MMF2 from your experiences with it? For example, I'm looking forward to having embedded mp3 files and the layering object or whatever it is. I just had too many weird bugs with MMF1.5 and it was annoying the hell out of me. For example, there was this one thing where upon entering a frame you saw the background for about 1/10th of a second before it loaded all the objects up. This would be no problem at all except that it counted the black object in the foreground (the darkness) too, which meant it flickered for a millisecond every time you'd run that frame. It couldn't be fixed using any method I know, which led me to think it was one of MMF1.5's limitations I suppose.
So please, any tips you have post away and THANK YOU!!

It's more stable, but less streamlined, IMO. However, I'm sure you'll get used to the new layout-- it just seems counterproductive to me to make a product that's missing interface features that veterans (and therefore customers) will miss. O_o Sure, you can get used to it, but it could be even smoother and more clear if they did some things better. I wish I could sit down with a clickteam developer while I made a game, and show them what could be better as I went.
Alot of it is just minor cosmetic things though... like the fact that selecting things in various places doesn't "emboss" them... I like buttons to dent in.
Have either of you had any issues with importing an existing MMF1.5 application into MMF2? Hasslevania 2 is very far along and I'd hate for the move to MMF2 to screw anything up. The way I did the subscreen uses a lot of different active objects that are layered a certain way. And I mean a LOT of different objects, Johnny! (Some objects cover pictures of power-ups when you don't have them for example). It might just be the most needlessly complex subscreen ever devised by man, but the important thing is that it works perfectly. It just took about 6 months to get it to work the way I wanted it to. Do you think it might be possible that MMF's way of doing layers will affect this?
Also, aside from MMF1.5's "bring to back" and "bring to front" is there a way in MMF2 to see where a particular object is in the Z-order? (like in an object info pop-up?). If there was an easy way to assign an object's Z-order it'd be so awesome and helpful to my project.
How does it handle embedded mp3s? Is it like MMF1.5 where you can have "play music" and then choose the midi and select from a list? Would I still need the DMC2 object for playback or can MMF2 play mp3s on its own? What types of sound files does it inherrently understand?
Hopefully my questions won't annoy anybody (I know how people feel about n00b questions "Go google it!") Thank you again!

Unfortunately it says it won't work because it needs dmc2.mfx and txtblt.mfx. Weird thing is that I moved the .cox forms of these extensions but it doesn't count (oh well, worth a try at least).
So have they moved all the old extensions over to MMF2 ones? Do I need to D/L all th bonus packs to get these, or are they MMF1.5 only? I went to Clickteam's download center and I didn't really see a list of what's in each pack.

dmc2 isn't ported over but the text blitter is in one of the bonus packs, if you put the .cox files in the MMF1 folder it should let you open it in MMF2 to replace them with other extensions/remove them.
Do you mean there's an MMF1 folder inside the MMF2 folder? Sorry, I don't have the thing in front of me now otherwise I'd check it myself. All I remember seeing were the same types of folders that 1.5 had like runtime, data, extensions, etc. but no MMF1 folder in there. I wasn't looking for one though so it's possible I missed it.
