i have been to a few sites where you can comment on user profiles and let em know what ya think of em! thats what we need here, also maybe be able to vote how much you hate a certain user, so if you have 5 stars that means clickers think your cool, but 0 stars means clickers want ya dead.
some one blows there nose and YOU want to keep it!
It's been done half a decade ago. Interesting thing is YOU'D probably get 3 stars. Adam and me would probably get 1 star. Only someone like Tigerworks would get 4 stars, but even he'd get voted down today because of Construct.
Then people asked for it to be removed, just like what the game rating system is facing today. User voting was a lot nastier than game voting because people only really gave bad votes to people when they got angry, but getting a 5 star is like giving a random person on the internet a hug.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
From what I could see on other sites that do this, it's a useless feature. The only people who use it:
- Have their lives revolve around the happenings on myspace and/or Facebook. The internet is srs bsns to them.
- Use it ironically. They can just as easily call, text, or IM the other user.
- Are random fans. omg hi i luv ur work wil u b my freind?
- Find the internet an exciting place. They've been using the internet for only a few months, and their ISP is AOL, MSN, some other crappy starter service; They might also drive their kids to soccer in a van, or be driven to soccer in a van.
- Are "friendly" towards children. Their mascot is some sort of bear, apparently.
I wouldn't use this system. I think it's stupid. It'd very easily lead to people becoming jerks and jerks becoming people. The last thing you want are signs of a sentient internet! That's how the robot rebellions start.
