i want it, so when you reach a certain area in the first level of my game, that time will freeze, some info will pop up, and when you press a button or whatever, the info will dissapear, and then time will come back up to speed. is this possible?

The best way I can think to do this, to give you the most control, would be to just stop all the events that cause anything to happen. You can do this by making them check if a flag is on, and then flip the flag off whenever you want everything to stop. Then display the info, then flip the flag back on whenever the person presses a button, that will get rid of the info and flip the flag back on, causing all the events to work again.
You can also do it by putting all those events in a group, and the freeze info events in another group, then just deactivate/activate the first group..
