Okay so I'm downloading Linux (takes forever) Ubuntu to be specific.
And I was thinking about starting to develop for Linux, both from an applications standpoint and an actually modifying Linux as an OS standpoint.

First i want to know if anyone knows any good Linux developing communities, or if anyone knows of any tutorials.
Also it would be great if you could tell me what programming languages i need to learn to develop Linux.

I'm not a n00b at programming, i am actually pretty good so don't lecture me about the difficulties of programming.

actually pixeltheif the ubuntu community loves to get help. whether it be in discussion on the development boards or actually contributing directly if youre experienced.

application development, in linux, is more or less the same as windows. pick a language, a gui api, and start programming.
