any other linux users try it yet? its sexy.

they added a netbook remix distribution for this version. awesome since netbook screens were awkward with the regular version last time around.

I didn't like it and didn't really find any use of it.

didnt like what about it?

its got tons of use. its more stable. and it just flat out looks better (you have to set the way it looks yourself if you think it doesnt look good. its got plenty of eyecandy if you set it to).

so far linux is better than windows in every area except rapid game development (no game creation tools like mmf or construct or gamemaker) and gaming. and seriously, you can dual boot/virtualbox/wine/cedega almost anything that you need windows for.
it has replaced all my audio tools, graphical tools, editing tools, and web tools. but ive been using ubuntu for a couple years. 9.04 just has better visuals

I've loved Ubuntu since i tried it the first time. I think that was version 5 or so, and i still have the official CD for version 6 I prefer Linux in all areas. The problem is that i like to play games, and most games haven't been compiled to run on Linux, and i don't exactly think running World of Warcraft in Wine is such a great solution

So yeah - professional game developers: COMPILE YOUR STUFF FOR LINUX TOO DAMN YOUS *shakes fist*!

yeah i still dual boot with xp pro for playng games, and game creation.
if the rumors are true though steam is working on porting the source engine to linux. which means a ton of games and mods on linux.

Ubuntu (and Linux in general) is good for software development. It revolves around open source, so you have a lot of tools freely available, and flexibility too. Now if only CT would port MMF to Linux..

started that thread last night.

mmf2 does not work in wine. knp and tgf1 do though.
construct does not work in wine.
gamemaker does but is slightly buggy. gamemaker games do not run in wine, rendering/memory issues.

That's strange, I remember MMF2 running fine in Wine + Ubuntu. I don't know about the runtime though.

mmf2 installs fine.
when you try to run it, it gives you "mmf2 wasn't installed correctly. please reinstall"
or something to that extent.
mmf2 games seem to work fine. for the most part. games using certain extensions have trouble or some games run really sluggishly.
