Not much to say except that. We've all likely got at least a few memories of Geocities (and angelfire) even if they were made after it had already pretty much become a thing of the past.

Even though I hate geocities sites, it's still sad to see an old internet pillar close its doors. Rambunctious Indigestion Plaque!

I remember Geocities...

I remember Angelfire too. Are they connected somehow?

I used to have an old angelfire site. It was quite terrible

Rest in Peace Geocities! (And Billy Mays, Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson, Farah, and David Karridean)

Haha, that's great! You really oughta archive that entire site before it goes down. Put it up on the DC's server under Back to the Click.

GeoCities. I can't think of anything to say about it that doesn't involve a massive amount of expletives.

Yahoo bought them back in '99, I'm pretty sure. I believe I read somewhere that only a few sites would be archived by Yahoo, but that may have been incorrect.

I'm sure it'll be missed as much as the websites it hosted.

Shame it's going. But wow Rikus, that site is ancient! I love stumbling across old sites like that (last updated; in the last millennium!). I used some website downloader app in 1998 to pull down some massive Zelda website on Geocities. Which even pulled down external links of friends and similar sites all full of Zelda-y goodness.
