the gamecreators just made their product DarkBASIC Pro Free.
In following suit with all the other game development tools to help lower the entry bar.
It is however supported by advertisements, and it's windows only.
It's an easy to learn coding language though, and is what I started with when I began making games.
I remember DarkBasic when it was first released. I didn't think anyone really used it but I just checked the website and they have a lot of activity on their forums!
Another game creation tool being released for free. Unity Indie, Unreal, DarkBasic. Do you think that Clickteam will ever change their plan?
Nope. I'm almost tempted to upload the old knp for schools to my site.
All this "free" business just makes me mad.
Clickteam's products are so much better in my personal totally biased opinion.
It's just that it seems like the learning curve is getting steeper and steeper as more users become skilled at the current klik products.
It does seem like Gamebuilder is attracting a lot of new people to klik because it seems to be teeming with people who have just started using klik products. I *might* be wrong on this though because I don't tend to hang out there.
I haven't tried all of the links, but MMF1.5 and Jamagic aren't available for download. TGF is, but I also heard that you need a serial number for it (i.e. it's not free)
I remember when I bought TGF Pro. I remember looking up at MMF 1.5 like this huge juggernaught program that I'd never get my hands on. Clickteam ultimately had a pretty big sell though for Halloween. Combined with my TGF Pro key, I think I paid around half price for MMF 1.5.
It's not so much the fact that all these game creation tools are free that makes me mad. It's the fact that clickteam isn't doing more to publicize their products.
Part of me thinks that Jeff is hesitant about taking on that kind of load. Clickteam, at the moment, probably feels like a very manageable company right now, and if it gets a ton of new attention, that means a lot more people buying, a lot more people expecting faster progression of the software, meaning hiring more programmers with the new found product income, and now suddenly our little group known as Clickteam is expanding faster and faster. The sudden exponential growth might be a bit uncomfortable? I don't know. Just a theory. Sounds stupid, but I don't see anyone else coming up with anything.
