Finally a reason to buy a Wii! Classic Mario with 4 player Co-op, sure it doesn't look like it has the depth of Mario 1,2 & 3 and world but looks interesting..... One little detail that really bothers me though is why have they called it New Super Mario (the DS version did the same) in 5 years when the next format comes out and theres like another 5 Mario games its not gonna be new, stupied!!!! Anyway please injoy the Vid!!!!!

the one thing that prevents me from buying it right now is that the classic controller is not supported

Wow. I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to disagree with you Va1entine because that just looks bad x) Nintendo have really started to lose their touch recently. I suppose graphically it's pretty inoffensive, but apart from that... I mean honestly, a game mechanic that removes all challenge from a game by completing hard bits for you? I get that they're focusing on the casual market now, but there must be a limit to how casual you can get.

I had this on preorder ever since they were available but with Christmas (and L4D2 ) coming up I've cancelled it for now. Can't wait to finally play it though, looks a hell of a lot of fun. I mean New Mario DS was great, lacked a lot of personality unlike the older Mario titles but expanding that and adding 2-4 player support? That's brilliant.

The music sounds sucky though.

Hoping they make a New Mario World at some point.
Also ROCKBAND2 must suck too because there's a No Fail setting for that. It's something I'll never use but it's nice to have an option to get everyone involved in Mario.

That's a fair point, but I still think there's a lot wrong with the new Mario. I suppose it'll be good for fans of the franchise but it seems to me that Nintendo are just rehashing old titles because they know the fans will buy it.

When it comes to Mario, I think Nintendo does anything but rehash. Galaxy, anyone? (Yes, Galaxy 2, but that's more like an extension.) Returning to 2D platforming doesn't necessarily mean the same as the olden days, because it introduces lots of new things. 4 player at once looks ridiculously fun. There's nothing that says you have to let the game play the hard parts for you. Including the option to use training wheels doesn't make it any less of a bike without them.

I'm debating whether to pony up the cash to buy this now, or just ask for it for Christmas.

I've tried it and I have to say it's really a lot of fun, especially being more than one player. I've tried it 1-3 players so far and we had a blast. The fun thing about playing lots of people together is how hard it becomes to cooperate when everyone always wants the best powerup and so on. We accidently killed each other all the time. I'm going to get this on friday for sure! I really recommend it. .....And no, I am not hired by Nintendo .

I guess they'll just call it Newer Super Mario Bros. But yeah, they have cornered themselves a little with that title. Everything on the SNES was called "Super whatever" and everything on the N64 was called "whatever 64", so I don't see what was wrong with just calling it Super Mario Bros Wii. Nintendo do seem to have put everything into the Wii as if it's their last hope, what with sending Mario into space and all.

The game looks fun but I still remember playing New Super Mario Bros DS and feeling that it was way too easy. I'm going to wait a little while until the excitement dies down and I can read some objective comments. 35 pounds is a lot to spend on a Wii game these days.
