No matter how hard I try I can't complete a game! Sometimes it just isn't possible or I completely lose motivation to make the game.

Shooting Game(Top Down)

I can't get the A.I. down!!! Trying like 10 hours to do the A.I. and its just almost impossible for me!! 8 hours wasted!! I have to leave to another state in like 2 weeks and when I get back I have to goto that ****hole called SCHOOL!! How am I ever going to finish a game if the A.I. takes a year!

R.P.G
Whats even more impossible than A.I.?! Making a whole battle system plus A.I! At least my character could attack in the shooting game!! Plus for an R.P.G. I have to do like 100 plus things I have no idea how to do!

Fighting game
And whats really IMPOSSIBLE! Making a first person swordfighting game in MMF2. Why won't they jst put in 3d already??
And I can't draw or animate!! I CANT I CANT I CANT! How am I supposed to make a game without SPRITES!!!!

ANY OTHER TYPE OF GAME!!!
I can't make any game!!

You dont have to be so hasty. For every failed project, you earn something from it, like how to code more efficiently and stuff like that. Even though ive been klikking for years, i havent really released anything bigger than a minigame that can be completed in a couple of minutes.

By learning from failures, youll eventually get better. Learning to design a good game takes time and effort.

This is true. I've been in the community for almost a decade now and my releases have gone down dramatically in frequency because I've earned pride faster then skill but still gain skill with each project that failed due to a lack of pride in my project. When I do release something though, I try to make sure it blows people away.

I'm currently in the process of licensing True Diamond who are doing research on getting it sold on Steam and ultimately ported over to PSN and XBL.

You just dont know how many unfinished mfas i have here

I just found out the hard way that making games isnt something you do in days, it just requires dedication and planning, and sometime to do it

Don't worry about it. You'll keep getting better if you keep trying.

Exactly! I've been klikking for ~12-13 years, and I only have ONE finished game!

I believe planning, practice and persistance to be the way to completion.

RPG and fighting games are some of the hardest in MMF. Go for something easier

Top down shouldn't be so hard. Lol, it's normal to spend a few hours on it when you start off. If it's hard, do what they'd teach you in class... plan it down on paper, draw some block diagrams or pseudocode. It takes maybe an hour at most, but it saves you many, many more hours later.

Muz is right - you just need to stop being over-ambitious.
If it's just one aspect of a game that you can't figure out, then find a way to simplify it, or drop it altogether (that was HitmanN's advice to me ).
If the game as whole is too challenging (as is likely with an RPG / fighting game), then pick a different genre - scrolling shooters (R-Type clones) are probably the easiest to make.

Alternatively, you could consider working with other people - get them to do the stuff you find hard, while you focus on what you're best at.

Anyway, it's not a big deal if you don't complete games, as long as you have fun trying. Like EternalMan, I've been Kliking for years, with very little to show for it in terms of finished games.

When I first started making games, i was waaay to ambitious. Now I've learned to stick to what I know how to do for know which is platformers. But still, theres probably at least 6 abandoned games to every one finished game, and I've only finished 3.

Me too. However, in a lot of RPG games that I played, most of the basic enemies just attack. I would just randomly pick a move from their moveset. Bosses are a bit more complex, so just have them attack in a pattern OR react to the player's moves.

Well, nothing wrong with being overambitious. I'm pretty much as overambitious as it gets. Just saying, you have to learn to crawl before you can run

And while on that, you don't learn to crawl in 10 hours... it could take a while. Took me a few hours to code my own custom movement engine. Top-down AI took like a week. Doesn't really matter if you're doing it slower than anyone else. The point is that you get there. And the next few times you do it, you get a lot faster at it. Maybe someone can create a full game in 24 hours, while it takes you 3 months... well, the people who did make those games fast probably spent a few months on it when they started off too.
