Yeah, every time I use the perspective object, half the screen goes black and the effect doesn't work. How can I fix this?

That's usually when it's out of the frame area, or larger than the frame area itself. You basically need to play around with resizing it/follow frame options, I believe.

You can get a weird effect like that by using a negative number for the offset I believe.
