seriously im fing sick of it
im trying to import a silly graphic into mmf 2 but NOTHING goes and it is driving me literally insane and while i know this thread will probably get deleted and there is no real benefit i still felt the need to post this just because its so frustrating.

the world used to be so much easier with mmf 1.2 and 1.5 where the graphic editor actually worked and i could do such complicated tasks as in IMPORTING PNGs (mmf just fucks up PNGs and it works a bit better with BMP but still fucks up- great fucking work)

so i guess ill just install 1.5 and do the rest of the coding in mmf 2 even though i fear my game wont run because of some weird ass bug and i wont even be able to nail it down in the end and blame myself. with something like a graphic editor i can tell dickteam fucked up. peace

edit: so the thing is mmf 2 doesnt seem to support png very well

just a warning to everyone out there. dont use png if you want to import graphics.

why isnt there a magic wand tool in the graphic editor? i might be blind. i hope i am.

I use pngs only. They all import just fine. Maybe you can put up the png and I can see if it is the png itself or if you're doing something wrong on your end. You also haven't said how the pngs come in broken. Do they come completely transparent? Do the colors change? It is possible that you're doing or not doing something that makes this happen, and at the very least you might be able to find a workaround by not saving pngs using a certain software or something else.

I think threads like these would be more appropriate if they came after such processes of verification (assuming you haven't checked with anyone else to see if they have the same problem as you). In other words, I think it'd be better if threads started out as requests for help or verifications of theories and then became posts like that (although I would prefer that posts like these don't happen because they don't really help anything.) Not to say you can't talk about things like this, but make it a discussion as opposed to just "This sucks and I just thought I'd write it out here."

Neither have i, except for black appearing as transparent, though the quickest work-around for me is to import the picture (which stretches the work area to the size of the image), press CTRL+A, press CTRL+X, fill the area black, then finally press CTRL+V to paste back the image.

Hope this helps

I have no problems in mmf2. I couldn't use the graphic editor in 1.5 in my life depended on it though.

german version. oh hayo you goofball.

thanks a lot for all the replies though. i didn't expect those.

anyways i will just try to find my copy of mmf 1.5 again where importing PNGs worked like a charm.

I'm trying to import a png into mmf- if i try to fill in the transparent areas it will change my black outline to white even though i didn't click on that. if i select the whole graphic and delete it i will get black leftovers. its weird

That's probably because that black isn't really black--it's just a hole in the alpha (transparent) layer with black as the background color. When you color the transparent area, it changes the background color, and the hole shows that color.

What did you draw the PNG in?

The black thing is because of the alpha channel. You only erased the RGB channels and the alpha channel is trying to render a color that's not there anymore, substituting it with black instead. You can erase it in the alpha channel editing mode if you press the icon that looks like the love-child of the letters C and X (right next to Crop button) and press Edit under Alpha Channel, then paint using gray scale values.

White = Visible area, black = invisible area.

Or better yet, do the editing in an external editor (Like GIMP or Photoshop) and don't touch it in MMF2. That's probably the best course of action when importing frames with an alpha channel.

i did the graphics in flash and exported as png. so how can i fill in the transparent area as WHITE because mmf doesn't seem to fill it as you can see in the video.
