has there ever been a thread about the Monkey Island remakes?
I love Monkey Island. When Monkey Island 3 came out I was like: MAN I wish 1 and 2 would come out just in the same style as 3 (MAN that style still rocks so much) and with voices.
So eventually they remade Monkey 1 + 2 but personally I am not too pleased with it.
What do you think about it?
I think those vector graphics are not superior to the old graphics. They seem cold and really stupid to me. Like some FREEHAND (yeh that dead macromedia vector program) tutorial graphics. It just doesn't have the charm and rich details the original graphics have.
It makes me sad to hear kids say "this looks so much better" or stuff like that.
I know certain people will disagree with me and tell me how wrong I am but still I am curious to hear what you think.
Also what really bugs me (is there a patch / hack for this): I can't play the original version with voices.
I want the original version with it's great graphics and the voice acting.
Also has anybody ever seen all the stuff they cut out of Monkey Island? Like I know you can talk to the dog in the scumm bar in close up. It was too big and wouldn't fit on a floppy. I know the special edition got the dog close up in it.
I think the only two great things with the Special Editions is is the remastered music and that they've given all characters voices. The graphics really is inferior to the Secret of Monkey Island from 1990.
Don't know if you've noticed, but the Monkey Island Special Edition 2, has a function that let you play with the old graphics but still with the new music and sounds by just pressing one of the F buttons. I Think it was F1.

okay found the ini for language and just deleted it.
anyways you can not turn on speech while in classic mode. the item and verb selection is the worst system i have ever seen in an adventure game. after having been king of adventure games and having made a lot of very very great games lucas arts should be ASHAMED of themselves. doing stuff is such an annoying pain in the ass im just in NEW mode when talking to people and for everything else i switch to classic mode so im constantly switching.
seriously lucasarts, you suddenly suck i used to love you.
