My wife picked up a couple of very cool T-shirts at Target. I'm pretty nostalgic about these "classic" games seeing as how I'm a (cough) "classic" (cough) gamer myself. I must have invested a mint of quarters into the arcades (and these two games in particular).

Check them out:

Best thing: I they are only $9.99.

Whoa I so want those for my mom. I'm starting to get on in the years myself, but she often talks about having me in the stroller next to her back in the early 80s playing these at the arcade haha. Awesome, may have to go pick some up.

Thanks for the heads up!!

You know, when were were all younger I'm sure we played these classic games and thought, "wow, I wish I could make my own video game one day". And now we can. Moreover, we could make better looking and more complex then those classic games. Kinda makes you think doesn't it?

But to be on topic, the Dig Dug shirt is nice. Although not my color either.

MasterM - Yeah, I looked on the Target website and didn't see them either. But, they DO have them in their stores right now. Hit up your local Target and I'm sure you'll find them.

Tetsuya - That's exactly what I thought ("wow, I wish I could make my own video game one day." The only thing is - I don't want to make a game with better graphics (as strange as that may sound). I spent so much time in the arcades in the 80's that those are really the games I love the most - and fantasized about creating myself. Since those were my developmental years, those games will always have a certain resonance with me. It's really much like identifying with the music of that same period. You'll always feel most connected to the music you listened to from age 15-25. Sure, you'll music taste will change and mature - but the music you listened to during those ages will speak to you as the "music of my generation". That's sort of how I feel about those 80's games - they were the games of my generation.

Sure I play today's video games (and love the Half-Lifes, Halos, Starcrafts, Diablos, and Gears of War) but the games I most want to make are the ones with Pixel Art. I spent so much time with those games that I can't imaginge making something else. It might be different if I had gotten into games today. Perhaps I'd want to make something in 3D. But, that's just not what I want to do. Pixels are just too cool. Haha.

BTW, I got compliments from folks on the street about both my Dig Dug and Galaga shirts (wore both this weekend). That's geek cred!

Lol, I'm the last person that would say 2d is dead. I had just meant you could make a better looking Dig Dug if you wanted to. Your pixel art is good.
