Hello everybody,

Is it possible to subtract an object from another active object? Leaving empty transparent space?
This would be similar to the "paste image into background" action.

Image

For example, here are 2 active objects. "Door" and "Red hole".
Can you subtract "Red hole" from "Door" and leave a transparent hole?

I don't want to simply animate frames for this. Making real holes will make every door be damaged differently to every other door and be really badass.

Thanks in advance! Hope your projects are going well. Peace xxx

I played around a little trying to figure this one out. You can do it, however you need to make all your doors into surface objects instead of actives.

Or you could have just one Surface object, and export its contents to an external file, and load that into an active using the "load frame" action.
I've done something very similar before to dynamically add dirt to rally cars.

It doesn't seem to be possible using just HWA, which is a shame.

My example wasn't very good depending on how many holes you want in every door. It will create a nasty looking effect if holes overlap each other.

Thanks guys. I never thought of using surface objects.

Akai_R, I've been playing around with the mfa you posted. Thanks for going to the effort! If you make the hole a solid black colour, then there are no nasty effects when holes overlap. I couldn't seem to get it to work though if the hole object has an alpha channel itself. Any ideas?

Cheers

I'm guessing you're trying to use your original hole picture? Try adding a white background to it and see if that works. Otherwise I don't know.
