Hey guys! This isn't a coding question persay, but i don't see an art forum aside from posting your artwork, so I posted here Anywho, my question is this. I am creating my characters in 3DsMax and using motion capture data, which is usually pretty high in frame count. I was wondering what kind of limitations are in place as far as animation frames go. How many is too many? Sometimes my loops are as small as 30 frames others are in excess of a couple hundred. While I CAN render every Nth frame, it does affect the visual feel of the animation, so I was wondering what the general concensus is on this subject, as well as find any other 3D artists who use this process and would have any information to share, be it about this specific problem or not. Thanks in advance!

I've never used this process before, but I'm pretty sure that MMF will allow you to use as many frames as you want as long as your PC can handle it.

It's prolly a good idea to keep the frame count down though to conserve space, because your game can get really large really fast if you're not careful.

The smaller the game is the more portable it is, and that usually leads to more exposure.

Like UrbanMonk says, it's mainly a trade-off between smoothness and filesize.
The more frames, animations and animated objects you have (and the larger they are) - the bigger the filesize will be, and the less likely it is that anyone will download your game.
