Ok, about a week ago I bought this
Image

...and I'm in love <3 At first I was a bit worried its tiny size (about the size of a matchbook) would make it hard to use but it's actually very easy to use. It has the option to sort songs using ID3 tags but personally I'm oldfashioned and like to sort them myself with folders The keys feel very nice but one thing that I found counterintuitive was the assignment of the Up button to Play/Pause (the middle button is instead used to display an equalizer graph and the next song on your playlist/folder) but I quickly got used to that. Its format support is above average, supporting FLAC and Ogg Vorbis along with the usual MP3 and WMA formats. One feature I haven't used is the MicroSD slot, which has the potential of upping its memory to 40gb (8 gb internal + 32gb MicroSD card) Because of the size of the unit there's obviously no photo or video support, but there's FM radio with the ability to save frequency presets.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced MP3 player I strongly recommend this one. ATM it costs £42.49 for the 8gb model on Amazon and £33.82 for the 4gb model.

That's neat. I used to have something like that until I got the iphone, now that's what I use for everything.

Camera, pictures, video, internet, music, you name it.

Half the time when I'm too lazy to turn on my computer I'll browse the internet on my phone instead.

I have the Sansa Clip, love it. I've got HTC Desire as my phone but I prefer to keep the music separate, especially battery-wise. But it's a great little player. I bought the 4GB version and a cheap 16GB memory card and fit most of my favourite music on there.

Yes, but an iPod Nano is over twice the price of a similar capacity player What do you find "wrong" with other MP3 players anyway?

Fordom: Where do you find a 3 GB SD card

I currently have a Kubik Evo - http://www.kubik-digital.com/epages/62095293.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62095293/Products/%22Kubik%20Evo%208GB%20Black%22
On paper, it's great - I paid around £30, and for that you get: 8GB storage (+ MicroSD slot), 20hr battery life (and very fast charge time), FM radio, Video/Photo viewer (1.8" screen), and voice recorder.
Unfortunately, the user interface really lets it down a lot, the sound quality at low volumes is quite poor, and the construction is shoddy.
I think I'll probably get a Creative Zen M100 next, unless I find some negative reviews. http://uk.store.creative.com/entertainment-devices-mp3-players/zen-style-m100/948-20612.aspx

While I've heard good things about the Creative Zen series in general, they've put out so many models it's hard to find info on a particular model. Most "reviews" seems to have just copied the product announcement and specs. I did manage to find this one though

Thanks for digging up a review. It wasn't exactly a glowing recommendation though - maybe I won't get one...
I really just want a barebones kind of player - 8GB+, long battery life, good sound quality (& custome EQ), decent user interface - and don't need any of the extra bells & whistles, and don't want to pay extra for a brand name.
I did have a Philips GoGear Raga which was pretty good but it didn't last long. Also had a nice Archos before that.
