Hi, I have a question.

I submitted two of my demos to both downloads and projects. I said "I hope this isn't seen as spam" but I went and looked at other people's profiles and it looks like other people have done it too, so I think I should be okay there.

However what I want to know is, can I create a project for a download of a game that was already finished before I joined this site?
Because I know its called PROJECTS for a reason, but still I would like the game to have its own discussion forum, if possible.
Especially considering that once a project is finished, it probably keeps its project entry and stays open to discussion, am I right?

I wouldn't bother. Noone's going to post in the forum section anyway (even on really big, actively updated projects, the forum is always empty). People will just use the download comments section instead.

sorry, posted twice by mistake. please delete both the duplicate and this post.
it's not letting me put this in an edit due to this error:

Microsoft VBScript runtime

error '800a0006'

/forum_edit_post.asp, line 67

So yeah, sorry for triple post but there's a bug report for you.

Heh, that's actually a good question. The problem is, if you submit it as a project I doubt anyone will look at it, and like Sketchy said, the users will concentrate on the actual download page. Technically there's nothing in the rules that says you can't do it, but to be honest, there's probably no point - just submit it as a download and see what the users have to say there

thanks! If there's no point, I probably won't do it. But I just wanted to know, just in case. Because sometimes I do do things just for the heck of it.

My opinion is that when a project is technically finished (100% of development done), there is still a lot to do around the project, be it then marketing, gathering and summarizing feedback, other type of analytics, etc, so from this view point I think it's more than justified to post a "ready" game in the projects section and actually add many posts still there letting people to know what you have done since the 100% was reached. It's rarely done, which is a shame, because I'm sure many would find this type of "post-release" insight rather interesting.

So that's my opinion on submitting finished games in the Projects section.

I agree with this logic, actually, it was my way of thinking pretty much. If nothing else to simply discuss the game and any possible updates (the kind that are released after its finished). Its really a shame that its not active enough.
