I need some sound effects to use commercially in my game, and can't find a solid source online. I've visited sites like FlashKit which has a vast library of sounds but some of them are clips from TV shows and they're listed as "freeware" by unknown users meaning they can be used commercially. But I don't know how trust worthy that is.

Does anyone have any sites in mind I could check out?

If you want 8-bit Style effects, try a program called SFXR

Thanks James, I've got cfxr (Mac version) and will probably have to make do with it, but the sounds it make are awfully limited, I think. You can usually tell if someone's used it to create their sound effects. I'm looking for just general sound effects really I think, preferably retro, but not quite that retro.
