Hi everybody! I've been watching E3 and was wondering what everyone thought about the new consoles and games coming up. Also, where's the best places online to watch. I've been watching at Gametrailers.com
http://www.gametrailers.com/

The Xbox One looks plain and bulky to me. I enjoyed some of the exclusive xbox titles like Project Spark, Titan Fall, and Killer Instinct.

I still have to watch Sony's presentation. I'll make my final decision then.

I was really impressed by Nintendo's new Yoshi screen shot. The game makes me miss the fun of games. Most of the other console games presented were brutal realistic shooters or sports.

Hmm...I might be getting a Wii U this year.

I generally like the style of Nintendo's offerings the best, and I'm looking forward to what they showed, but they were playing even more conservatively than usual, which is a little frustrating. I love DKC, but if I had to choose, I'd see a new Star Fox first.

Sony's presentation was by far the most exciting. In fact, since I've never actually really been excited by watching e3 videos, I can just say it was exciting and that's as good as using a superlative.

The glut of shooters was tiring. I don't really remember anything about the XBOX presentation besides bullets.

I agree OMC DKC is awesome! I would love to play a new Star Fox but I would hate to have to choose between the two. I hope we get both. I was happy to see Megaman added to the Smash Bros. roster. The new Sonic game looks good too. I don't even know much about Pokémon, but it looks fun and interesting as well.

I finally got to watch the Sony presentation. Destiny and Infamous 2 looked pretty good. The console price is cheaper too.

I also watched the Nintendo video broadcast this morning and I'm still lovin' the Wii U line up. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and a shiny new version of one of my favorite Zelda's will do just fine. I do wish one of the consoles would have had a new Bioshock, Borderlands, or Silent Hill though. Overall I think that after I get GTA 5 I'll probably pick up a Wii U. I wonder if they have Animal Crossing for it?

The PS4 looks nice. I'm not a huge fan of the Wii U design or the Xbox One design, but they're not bad.

The only game from E3 I'm looking forward to is Mirror's Edge 2, and it looks very samey. Nintendo's presentation was the biggest let down for me. We're essentially getting another Mario 3D Land, another Mario Kart 7, and another Donkey Kong Country Returns. They look too similar to the previous games to me.

I grow tired of things quickly, I need to see new things all the time or a I get bored. That screenshot of Yoshi above looks new and fresh, unlike every other game Nintendo unveiled.

Disappointing for me.

I've heard nothing but curious, bad things regarding the XBox One and its methods:
- Games only permitted with persistent Internet connection...No offline gaming
- No swapping of games from one console to the next/borrowing games from friends
- Reselling of games only through licensed retailers like GameStop, not person to person like in a swap/yard sale/etc.
- Constant surveillance with the Kinect or similar device (which is standard for the XBOne)

The MS marketing manager or whatever spun this all as advances "for the industry."

For those of you who are following, is there any clarification or confirmation you can pass along?

It's all still a little fuzzy, which adds to the negative atmosphere, but Microsoft has claimed you can turn off the Kinect (despite having to have it connected to turn on the console--wut). There's also this family system where up to 10 consoles can all share the same game licenses. Publishers can enable reselling through authorized retailers, I think. That way they get a cut of subsequent sales of the same software. That seems really strange to me. Not that the publishers shouldn't be compensated since their effort went into the software and not the cheap physical disc, but that they even bother with discs at all since everything requires the internet and a license.

Needless to say, it was quite a fiasco for Microsoft. If they don't reverse some of their decisions, there's no way this will be a successful generation for them in comparison with the PS4.

The fact alone that you won't be able to dig out your XBOX One in twenty years and play its games without servers is enough to kill it, I think.

Microsoft apparently pulls off a "complete reversal" in regard to its DRM policies on the upcoming XBox One. Summary follows, including link to a MS confirmation:

...This is a fairly crafty maneuver on their part. So they backslide on everything except for the persistent Kinect? That's the one thing that really hasn't changed.

I assume there's a huge hard-drive on the XBox One. It should be able to retain key audio and visual data acquired by the Kinect regardless of its online status: voice, face recognition, and otherwise. It would be a small matter for someone's console to be subpoenaed by courts (definitely a first for "the industry") and data mined. Or download-only content sold in places like GameStop, forcing people to connect - however briefly - in order to pick up games; during those short periods of download/installation, a "critical update for your console" could take the place of a persistent connection.

If people complain about the Kinect being always-on, the simple retort would be, "Well, it's not so bad compared to what they COULD have done. Do you remember E3?"

Yes, crafty move indeed. Complete speculation, but indubitably possible, considering the technology at their disposal and/or waiting to be implemented large-scale.
