Hi Clickteam community!
For a while now, I've been developing a Shmup meets RPG game on Multimedia Fusion 2.
Around 10 years ago I used to do games with The Games Factory, in the forums my name was Renxo and Fatgirlinohio, and the games I did were Renxo Booper 2, NG, Universe v1.1, fEATHER rAMPAGE, and maybe some other game. I decided to go back to gaming when I saw the great iOS exporter for MMF... which works incredibly!
This game though I'm developing it only for PC, as the best way to play it is on gamepad. Anywho, I decided to start a Tumblr and a Tigsource to show the development of the game with the community, and I wanted to share it with you!!
The game is a cool mix between GUN NAC and DRAGON WARRIOR, in style/gameplay...
Plus, I'm working on a gamemode which is actually executed live, by a Game Master, or GameJockey, as I'm calling it. The game designer of the game (in this case, myself) would be executing the elements in teh game for head-to-head gameplay, two players against the Master. I'll be showing advances of this as I move forward.
Whoa...The film project you cite as inspiration for your project was outstanding! An excellent combination of 80's cartoons and live action, with a hefty chunk of Heavy Metal/2000AD thrown in for good measure.
Best of success on this project. I'm a huge shmups fan, and definitely a long-time fan of old-skool RPGs...I would love to see a mashup of these two genres.
EDIT: and I LOVE your tagline: "Can we make relevant casual games?" It's a concept I've wrestled with myself. Cheers to you, man!
Sooo cool! Thanks mate for the kind words! Glad you liked the movie too!! I'll be heavily updating on this project on a weekly basis, so stay tuned!! Thanks again Made my day
It generates music based upon what's on the screen. It approaches the procedurally-generated music concept you have from the other direction: when enemies appear and/or are shot, then a musical tone or drumbeat is generated. The result is always interesting, and rarely a jumbled mess of bleeps and bloops.
Have a look at it if you've not before, and see if it can offer up any inspiration.
S-m-r follow me on twitter or something and I'll follow you back so we can talk more often!! Or we can chat more on the tigsource forums which I check more often
