Hey all!

How do you go about choosing what colours to use in a level design for a game? I don't seem to have any grasp on picking colours to use!

Any general methods you guys use?

Just for some idea, this is the area I was designing and frustrated about the colours I am using.

You may want to have a go at this website: Color Explorer.

http://colorexplorer.com/imageimport.aspx

I imported your screenshot and extracted some of the key colours you used. From there, I can go to the Color Matching tab and find complimentary colours to the colour I like the most. There are even a few different methods to choose matching colours, so you can see variations regarding the feeling or mood you want to evoke.

Experiment with it, apply the adjusted/built palettes to your graphics, and see if your pictures end up a little more to your liking. There are lots of different ways to go about it, but I discovered this tool after only about three minutes of internet searching and fiddling with your screenshot.
