Ok, so i got this lap top from my mom and have done a fresh install of the OS (vista) from the disk it came with (was sealed in package)
i guess it would help to tell you its a dell inspiron 1521. i have installed all the drivers on the disks that were included, but i CANNOT for the life of me get java to install, it gets all the way to the end of the installer and says it was interrupted. i have been able to install Chrome, Daemon tools, bittorrent, Ccleaner and hearthstone. but then i tried to install mmf2 and i got an error saying something like some java extension was missing and it could not be installed. so i went and deleted all java files i could find (the installation failed) but java was not in my programs list, there is a program called JavaRa which goes through your system and removes everything java related (i think some registry values are left, seeing as java creates thousands and thousands of java entries for some reason) i ran that, and restarted the computer, tried to install mmf2 again and got (END: INSTALLATION COMPLETED.... Multimedia fusion 2 has not been totally installed because of the following reason: Extensions\kcfile.mfx: This file contains invalid data, Error 11FD) then it just says to run the utility again. i tried installing minecraft at one point, and all that happens in command prompt opens for a split second vanishes and it creates a shortcut to nothing on my desktop that says minecraft, the minecraft folder is empty. i have tried using the microsoft installer/uninstaller fixer, but it doesnt detect any issues. im at my wits ends, but i really need this laptop to work so i can work on my games while im at work (i work in a liquor store, gets real boring in here)
Again, im running a clean install of windows Vista 32bit. (installed it yesterday) ive done a bunch of updates, not sure if its 100% updated though. so yeah any insight would be great. thanks guys

no idea, I believe all that software is compatible with vista. The install getting interrupted makes me think laptop cord might be messed up. I've seen a few go bad or have damage or shorts. I'm not to good at trouble shooting but that's all i can think off.
Well after waaaaaaay too much time put in to this, finally was able to successfully install java 6, it will not let me update to 7, otherwise it becomes corrupt and i have to completely remove it using javaRa and reinstall. luckily having 6 on the system allowed me to install mmf2 and fl studio, so we can continue on our project a tad more frequently now that i have access to the tools at work.
