Yep. You missed the Golden age I'm afraid. This used to be my primary place for getting decent freeware games, and inspiration for me own games. I lurked for a while before making something good enough since back then standards for free games were very high. If your game didn't look as good as circys "Mr Stumps Dentures" then you wouldn't make it into the prized GOTW. Thats right, Game of the Week! You see we had some many downloads submitted each week that it would be difficult to sort through them so we made a weekly poll to decide which game was best. Also there were groups that would put out larger games with names like "Natomic Studios", "Tigerworks", "Virtually Real", "Acoders", and others I can't recall. A lot of them are selling their games now, or just vanished. Anyway there is much more to the story, but you get the picture. n/a

But, being in America the 4th of July and family made me have to stop. Work makes things tough too. If a contest doesn't have a decent amount of weekends it can get kind of hard to do.
