i was wondering, u know in sonic games and in the background u see moving objects (e.t.c in Metropolis zone Sonic 2 you see flashing lights in background) i could do that but if the background was moving and platyforms was backdrops the flashing light would be in front of the backdrop. Can this be done?

Make the platforms active objects (viewed at front), that way, the platforms will be in front of any active objects you use to create a background.

Yea, its better that way any way, because you have a custom movement engine anyways right? - Also this is done MUCH ezier in other programs and it is called paralax scrolling, that if the effect you desire am I right?

Basic answer: No. Backdrops are drawn in a seperate layer right at the start of the frame, and can't be animated or moved in front of actives or anything.
Parralax scrolling is a different thing, where each layer has its own scrolling speed, and only MMF can do this, and not very well.

trust me never do active objects as platfroms. I have learned from that mistake ages ago
