I created a chat program that connected to the DalNET channel with TGF all those years back before I had MMF... but I've lost it unfortunately.
There is no chat app yet, because there have been more important things to do (not the least of which was university work), but also things that DC needs more than a chat program (like the new rating system).
Jon: When you messaged me about it I sent you a message back saying I'd need to check the code and compile it myself, simply to make sure there wasnt anything in it that might be considered "malicious". I dont distrust you, but I need to give the users, that may not be as trusting as me, satisfaction that it's not going to do any harm to their system, nor will it save their password somewhere for you to see. I never heard back from you. Like I said, I've made a chat program before, I wasnt trying to steal your code.
I've got quite a few other things to do over the next couple of weeks, so the chat program is really on the back burner for me. I'll try and get around to creating it as soon as possible.

what's wrong with a web based chatroom? you know, nothing special, just one of those freebie ones.

The Daily Click had a chatroom last year, I believe, though it was only for a few days.
The truth is, The Daily Click doesn't really need a chat room, that's what forums are for (though you don't have instantenous responses like in a chat room).

I don't even understand the point of "chat"
What can you do with that that you can't do with e-mail. My friend's wife's cousin moved in with them and she sits on AOL all day long doing nothing but chat. And she is fat and ugly.

email takes time. if you want an instant response, why not chat instead.

Yeah, instant messaging is so much easier. If you want to know things right away. Also, what's wrong with a member making a chatroom like JonWoG's?

I want a software capable of:
a)capable of being hidden on the taskbar with one of those tiny icons near the clock.
b)being able to message any member of tdc, and be able to folder your favourite members
c) that the messaging system is same as the "DC Mail" system.. only that its real time..
so if you erase the message on the tdc messenger it also gets deleted on the DC MAIL thing.
d)has several of those okakei thingies.. wich are really fun.. plus you can spot good artists
and stuff..
and much more!
