Well, my fight against MMF's interface is going rather well at the moment - I'm beginning to tolerate it (have had it for about two years and never got used to it before), mostly thanks to Pete Nattress'sss's's's excellent article.

A fairly large problem has arisen, though.

When I try to insert a "Create an Object" action, I'm asked what kind of object I want to create - not given a list of objects in the level to choose from, like in TGF. After looking around the menus and even trying to get around it by using "Pick an object from another application" (which crashed it, incidentally) I still don't have a clue.

How do I get the old "Create an object" event?

That's wierd. Doesn't happen to me. Maybe you could try getting the latest patch. You need MMF 1.5.

You might not be in your level's directory. Check that the frame you want to display objects from is selected (eg. frame 1) and not from the library.

2 years and didnt get used to it? Whew. I forced myself to train making stupid little games just to get used to the interface, worked well. But I still find it hard to find certain things, since they place buttons in the dumbest placest times. Its only been like 2 weeks or mabye a month.. lol.

I've solved it. I changed the program's extension from .GAM to .CCA.

No, I've no idea why that solved the problem either. MMFusion is beginning to make more sense otherwise, but it still feels slow...

MMF is like a combination of everything.....with loads of things splashed here and there. I find the amount of menus somewhat overwhelming...there are actually more than in Paint Shop Pro.

One reason why I dont enjoy mmf is because things are WAY to clutterd; as in tgf if you knew what you were doing it was POP BANG DONE! Now I have to look for the right button to press The sad part is that the way the menus are it isnt always in the same area...

you can customise the toolbars, so if you aint using something, you can get rid of it, or change where it is, etc. just take 10 minutes to customise and you can get it exactly as you like it.

But in TGF it takes 1 second(loading time) to get it how I like it. Removing all the buttons from the toolbars is a pain...wastes lots of valuable creation time.

Seems that this thread has risen again, so I'll continue to give my thoughts...

I'm still getting more used to it - the Event Editor I can cope with easily now, despite the slight changes from TGF.

I know that I can customise the toolbars to my liking, but whenever I quit and reload MMF the toolbars revert to the cluttered way they were before - am I doing something obvious wrong?

The Level Editor is the problem, mainly the seemingly unnecessarily awkward Picture Editor. Still, I can get used to that in time.

Where are the original options, though? It's as if they've taken TGF, removed everything that was useful in it, then made it more awkward to use and crash more. (I've crashed it many times, in new and creative ways).

The main things are these: Where's my New Object right-click menu? The one that made you create a new Backdrop Object from an Active Object, Active from Text, and so on?

Speaking of text objects, how do I change the alignment (i.e. tell it to centre the text within the text field)?

And is it still possible to Import Font on counters and scores? Because I don't see it.

I think I'm winning the war against MMF at the moment... but I still wouldn't like to try and make a full game in it.

Where's my New Object right-click menu? Right click the object, go to the Create menu.

Speaking of text objects, how do I change the alignment (i.e. tell it to centre the text within the text field)? Select the text object(s), click the Text menu at the top, go to the Align sub-menu.

And is it still possible to Import Font on counters and scores? Because I don't see it. This one isn't so obvious... you have to select all (or some? if you wanted to) of the frame in the counter, then go to the Text menu and choose Typeface.

Changing from TGF to MMF can be hard, but you just have to get used to where everything has moved to. It's not as user-friendly as it could be, but you get used to it all the same.

Thanks for the pointers. They're pretty well hidden <¦-)

Still looking for the "New Object" option, though...

And the windows seem to be unbelievably hit-and-miss... sometimes they'll stay open behind each other, not appear on the Window list, minimise seemingly at random... but I think it's going to work this time.

The saga continues...

I just realized that MMF stopped showing a bunch of objects. The list is significantly small, and the advanced platform movement, isogrid2, etc. extensions are missing, even though they're in both of the proper directories.

1. You need to upgrade to Build 113!
2. Were you using the Frontend? If so, that could cause you to lose extensions - just rename the extensions back if that happens.
