I am having a problem with TGF, Layers. There are no layer effects, for example, an object is either an obstacle, or not. I can't have the hero walk up to the trunk of the tree and get stopped half way, and still have the tops of the tree branches go over him, to give the 3-D illusion... I've tried making two seperate objects for two different parts of the tree, but it just doesn't work.... Can anybody help? Has anyone had this problem before?

Make bottom of trees backdrops?? Sorry, random guess I've forgotten alot of TGF's functions as I've been using MMF1.5 for about a year now. In fact ignore that because it's probably no help at all

well you have to make the trees active objects and bring them to back when the player is under them and bring the to front if the player is higher up than them

You cant bring to front/back from the event list in TGF as far as I know. If you want your guy to stop when he comes up to the tree, just make an invisable line, and place it where you want the top of his head to reach. If he collides with the invisable line, stop. For the branches overhead, just right click the object in the level editor, and push Bring to Front or Bring to Back.

you could always make the trees in two halves
making the bottom halve a background and an obstacle

podge is right rycon, but andyak's idea is the best seeing it sounds like Marco is making some sort of RPG or adventure in which case making lots of active objects is not suitable, use backdrop objects mate!

My RPG is grid-based. With 48x48. 96x96, 144x144, 192x192 sized objects, backdrops are the way for me to go...I just position colliders 16 pixels from the char in four directions. If they overlap, I don't move, giving a free pixel movement that stops when I hit an obsticle block.
